Indian media: Pakistan partially opened Airspace for flights1 min read

According to the reports of Indian media, Pakistan has somewhat opened its airspace for west-bound Indian flights.

A leading Indian daily, Times of India, has quoted a source from Mumbai air traffic control saying that 1 out of 11 airways was opened for west-bound Indian flights on Thursday.

Last night, Pakistan opened up airway ‘P518’ for west-bound flights, not all airlines have started using the routes though.

The source said that the opened airspace goes over the south of Pakistan which has cut the travel time by minutes, adding that Airlines like Air India and Turkish Airways have begun using this route over Pakistan, saving both time and fuel.

We are trying to get the Pakistani version on the story because no further information is available on the matter.

It should be mentioned here that Pakistan had closed its airspace for Indian flights following a dogfight between the airforces of the two neighbors in which India lost it MiG-21 and got its pilot captured.

The two countries were at a standoff in the post-battle scenario which resulted in a complete boycott of each other, also affecting the aerial routes of international flights.
